The phrase “what goes around comes around” may have been created specifically to describe denim trends. Colored, floral and printed denim – all 90s staples – are back in a big way. Here’s the problem – who wants to spend a fortune on a timely trend that could be completely spent by next spring?

If you do, good for you, and if not, even better – because we’ve put together both high-end (denim alone: $189) and low-end (denim: $88) takes on the trend.

Spring Into Denim

Well Chicago, looks like Spring (or Summer) has arrived early this year. No complaints here, however it’s time to get on top of those Spring clothing trends. My favorite trend for this Spring is colored denim.

I prefer basic black, white and grey when it comes to my clothing and since I own so many plain colored items, I plan to introduce a splash of color into my wardrobe. The easiest and most fun way to achieve this is with denim. Patterns and colors are all over the place, but I want to call out a few of my personal favorites or rather, “must haves” for the season.

Forever 21 has a great denim selection of various styles and colors. These baby blues (1) are under $30 and extremely flattering. Blank NYC has great jeans at affordable prices and their new tangerine skinny (2) is to die for.

If you are open to splurging a bit, J Brand (3) has a wide selection of fun colors and patterns. From pastel pink to orange tie-dye, you won’t want to miss out on these. Lastly, Current Elliot has an emerald green (4) ankle skinny that would pair well with a fun summer wedge.

This spring, I plan on incorporating a pop of color into my (usually neutral) wardrobe.

In addition to the spring pastels, one of my favorite spring trends is orange.

From orange itself, all the way to the coral and tangerine, there are so many options that even the most orange-averse will be able to find something flattering. Here are some of my favorites:

Today I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Jacqueline Rezak at her online boutique Rad and Refined‘s styling session in Chicago, hosted at the stately chic Waldorf Astoria Chicago (formerly The Elysian). Rezak launched Rad and Refined only a few months ago, but her stock of vintage designer and California cool are already coveted by those in the know.

While I’m not much of an awards show enthusiast, I always enjoy a good red carpet.

Most of us won’t ever have the opportunity to wear a custom Armani (a-la Penelope Cruz) or vintage Dior (Natalie Portman). But today, GILT and People are hosting a sample sale chock full of Oscar-worthy gowns, glittery miniaudieres and towering heels. If there’s a black tie gala in your future – or you just want to practice your inevitable acceptance speech in full costume – don’t miss this sale!

And while the web is over-saturated with “best dressed” lists today, I couldn’t help but share my own. The chic simplicity of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford sheath blew me away, as did Jean Dujardin’s elegant Lanvin tux.

Molly: I’m obsessed with the Pomagranate Splash daily moisturizer from the Qtica Smart Spa line. The lotion not only smells good, but it also leaves your skin feeling fresh out of the spa. For only $16, I just can’t get enough!

Megan: Whether I’m squeezing into a bowl of oatmeal or satisfying a craving for not-as-healthy Nutella, I probably use one packet of Justin’s Nut Butter every day. Toss the Chocolate Almond flavor into a blender with almond milk, cinnamon, frozen banana and ice for a healthy shake – delicious.

Abby: With stores lining the East and West Coasts, Brandy Melville has yet to open up a store in Chicago. Thankfully, with fabulous prices on everyday necessities you can now shop online!

H&M‘s collaboration with Italian fashion label Marni hits stores on March 8. Marni is beloved for its bold prints, colors and shapes, an aesthetic that carries over to the lower-priced line, with pieces priced from $19.95 to $129. Its eclectic mix of classic prep, safari chic and colorblocking is spot on for spring.

The 900 North Michigan Shops are once again celebrating Presidents’ Day weekend by offering a 9.5 percent discount at participating retailers – equivalent to shopping “tax free”.

Stop shipping your online purchases to your friends in New Hampshire and step on it – the sale lasts from Saturday through Monday, and all your favorite shops are participating (think J.Crew, Michael Kors, Solstice, Club Monaco).

Accessories are one thing I’ve never lacked.
